At GVF, our methods and production practices exceed organic standards therefore we decline the certification. First and foremost we have an open door policy at the farm because we believe transparency is essential to accountability. This means that anyone can view any part of the farm at any time. We use intensive pasture management, rotational grazing and multi-speciation of the pastures to deliver the highest quality, cleanest and most nutrient dense food possible. We make a great distinction between the term “free range” as opposed to our pastured products, simply emphasizing the daily rotation of the animals in a symbiotic and natural sequence. Our cattle are rotated ahead of the chickens, which clean up after the cattle before the ground rests for an extended period of time. The pigs are rotated through the wooded areas and pastures in a similar manner. The cattle are 100% grass fed; while the chickens and pigs have access to free choice non-GMO grain rations to supplement their pasture diet. This rotation and multi-speciation confuses pathogens and provides a platform that allows us to grow animals without the use of any type of medications, hormones or antibiotics. Our chicken is culled here on the farm in an open-air processing facility far cleaner than any indoor facility. Our chicken is inspected and certified by the Maryland Department of Agriculture. We use M&M Butcher and Smuckers Meats for the processing of our beef and pork, both of which are USDA certified.

Here at Freedom Valley Farm, we are always asking ourselves, “how can we make our food better, both from a quality standpoint, and an environmental standpoint?” This is the question that we return to, and that drives our production process. Grass Based: All animals have access to fresh grass and are rotated to new grass routinely. This not only helps build solid and improve soil fertility, it also produces a nutritionally superior meat. For animals that do require grain, such as poultry and pigs, only non-GMO grains are used.

Broom’s Bloom

Bel Air, Maryland

The farm and house dates back to the early 1700’s and is supporting its 9th generation of the Dallam family. The farm is named after the colonial land grant for the area. In 1997, David and Kate Dallam started milking 65 cows on the farm and even more recently they started making and selling old fashioned ice cream, farmstead cheese and pork sausage. Our animals are fed a natural diet of grains and forages and we do not use artificial growth hormones.
We offer other Harford County agricultural products as well as some specialty items in addition to our own old fashioned hand dipped ice cream made right on the farm. We’ve made well over 100 flavors, but only 12-18 are served at a time and vary daily. Broom’s Bloom features our own old fashioned ice cream, homemade lunches, and our own artisan cheese and pork sausage. Locally produced lamb, beef, free-range eggs, and seasonal vegetables are also available.

Here at Rousedale Farm, we are dedicated to growing and providing fresh, local, natural foods for folks like ourselves who care about the health of our bodies, the health of our communities and the health of our environment. That’s why we use all natural, environmentally responsible methods. We never use harmful pesticides, herbicides, soil-destroying chemical fertilizers or other toxins. Our produce is not irradiated, genetically modified or picked green and gassed for color. Rather, our food is tasty, wholesome, nutrient-packed food, grown in a natural, organic environment. We know there have been studies from both camps making this claim or that claim, but the bottom line for us is, even if you tell me there is no nutritional difference between the two, I would rather eat the stuff without the poisons sprayed on it, thank you very much.

Come to Grimmel Farms to enjoy Fresh Home Grown Produce. We are proud to provide a large selection of high quality, fresh product to our customers. We grow several different varieties of fruits and vegetables right on the farm. We are best known for our mouth-watering sweet corn. One of the secrets to success is selecting the best available varieties to plant – which change yearly. The superior taste and nutritional value of our produce is the result of having the produce on the shelf within hours of being harvested. This means the fruits and vegetables are picked at the peak of their maturity, ensuring the most natural and wholesome products. Also, because the produce does not need to be shipped or stored for long periods of time, there is no need to add preservative waxes or store in unnatural conditions to maintain color or force it to ripen. The day you purchase your produce is the day it has been harvested!

The Farmer’s Story
Aaron Miller grew up on a conventional dairy farm. In Aaron’s Amish community, children do not go to high school. Instead, they work to gain a real world education. Aaron worked on his family’s farm. As every teenager, he started to question his life’s purpose. Luckily, there was a neighboring grass farmer that was happy to share his knowledge with Aaron. Once Aaron learned the profound value of all natural farms, it quickly became his calling. Aaron immersed himself in learning about radically traditional farming practices. This includes how livestock and products are handled with care and respect and are not treated with pesticides, hormones, or GMOs. After several years of study, Aaron had fully discovered the benefits of natural foods and regenerative farming. He decided to create his own naturally-produced and grass-fed farm. Aaron and his family started farming the old-fashioned way and producing grass-fed real foods. By 2009, they were fully operational and selling their goods. The farm grew into a buying club that sources food from local farms (mostly Amish) that practice in the same manner Miller’s Biodiversity Farm does. In 2016, the farmer became interested in A2/A2 cow’s milk. This interest arose from two experiences: (1) The farmer noticed that the calves fed A2/A2 cow’s milk grew faster and did not get diarrhea; and (2) The farmer’s baby Hannah was quite unhappy and did not want her formula until the family starting using A2/A2 cow’s milk. After switching to A2/A2 cow’s milk, she immediately took the bottle and was very content and happy! After seeing these benefits, Aaron converted his entire herd to produce 100% genetically-tested A2 milk.
