While our main goal is to provide you with where to get real food we also like to focus on teaching the public the dietary principles of the WAPF. These principles are based on the findings of Dr. Price and his 10 year study of traditional people groups. Dr. Price published a book of his findings entitled Nutrition and Physical Degeneration. In short Dr. Price found that food has a direct impact on the health of a human. Traditional people groups, those untouched by modern foods (refined sugars, processed vegetable oils, canned foods, and white flour products just to name a few) did not suffer from the diseases of modern man. What Dr. Price found about the diet of these traditional groups can be summed up in three basic principles: one, the diets did not contain processed or devitalized foods; two, all diets contained animal foods of some sort (no veganism); three, the diets contained very high level of nutrients and minerals (nutrient dense) and were found to be 10x higher than those found in the diet of modern man.
Today there are virtually no people groups untouched by what Dr. Price would call “the displacing foods of modern commerce.” The standard american diet, acronym SAD, is full of processed and devitalized foods. Worse yet, we’ve been taught to run away from saturated fats and all the foods Dr. Price found were so highly valued in traditional cultures. The WAPF is here to prove that what Dr. Price found is as valued today as it was in the early 1900’s.
The Joplin chapter of the WAPF is, like many other chapters, motivated to teach you about real food and the impact it can have on your life. Please take advantage of all that the chapter has to offer, including educational materials, informative DVD presentations, cooking classes, and meetings. We are here to answer your questions and help you find your way down the path of nutrient dense food.
