Animal Husbandry
Do you use antibiotics and/or hormones? No
Are the animals pasture-fed? Yes
How much and for how long: Our ruminant livestock (cows, sheep, goats) are consuming forage all year long. Single stomached animals (chickens, turkeys, pigs) are on pasture throughout the growing season and beyond, as long as they are not too cold or damaging our soil, plants or water they are on pasture.
Do you practice managed grazing? Yes
Do you apply compost or compost tea? Yes

Do you use supplemental feed?
- For poultry (list type): Our laying hens are fed a mix of non-gmo wheat, oats and pellets(also non-soy,non-gmo). Turkeys are fed a pelleted non-soy, non-gmo feed.
- For cows, sheep, and/or goats (list type): Our cows,sheep and goats have only mineral, salt, and when there is no other pasture, hay that we produce.
- For pigs (list type): Aside from pasture our pigs are fed a soy and gmo free feed and garden waste.
Do you purchase pre-mixed feed or do you grind your own? Purchase. Our feed is from a farm in Virginia that produces soy and gmo free mixes.
Do you personally attend to your animals at least once a day, or do you hire help or farmers to do that for you? Personally Attend. As a family farm each family member has specialty areas of oversight, but help each other out whenever needed.

All cattle,sheep, and goats are born here.
Chickens, turkeys and pigs are purchased, though we hope to start farrowing our own sows soon.

Details: We have only purchased adult cows from an auction in the past, we don’t butcher auction animals.
