Price Foundation (WAPF).\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Our NWWM chapter goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To help those in West Michigan learn how to nourish ourselves and our families with traditional foods<\/li>\n<li>To learn how to support our health and heal our bodies in safe, natural ways<\/li>\n<li>To meet with likeminded people and offer support to all<\/li>\n<li>To be an ongoing resource for finding local real food<\/li>\n<li>To empower you to bring others along with us on the journey!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Mission Statement:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nourishing Ways of West Michigan (NWWM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating our community about nutrient-dense foods.\u00a0 This education embraces the ancient wisdom of traditional cultures as shown by the research of the Weston A. Price Foundation and written about in Sally Fallon\u2019s book, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Nourishing Traditions<\/span>.\u00a0 As a local chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation we work to connect local farmers with consumers.\u00a0 We provide information on local sources of organic fruits, vegetables, grains, pasture-fed livestock, eggs, dairy products, and how properly prepared foods may be integrated into your life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our history:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nourishing Ways of West Michigan began when Grand Rapids native Karen Lubber\u2019s young daughter was diagnosed with brain cancer.\u00a0 During the fight for her life and well-being, Karen did extensive research into the cause and effects of cancer.\u00a0 Inevitably, she found that food, what was in it and what was not, had a profound effect on her family\u2019s health.\u00a0 They discovered there is but one disease, and it is malnutrition.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/chapters.westonaprice.org\/grandrapidsmi\/files\/2011\/05\/nourishing-traditions.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-302\" src=\"https:\/\/chapters.westonaprice.org\/grandrapidsmi\/files\/2011\/05\/nourishing-traditions.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chapters.westonaprice.org\/grandrapidsmi\/files\/2011\/05\/nourishing-traditions.jpg 450w, https:\/\/chapters.westonaprice.org\/grandrapidsmi\/files\/2011\/05\/nourishing-traditions-217x300.jpg 217w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 290px) 100vw, 290px\" \/><\/a>Finding nutrient dense foods proved difficult for Karen at that time.\u00a0 While attending a conference on alternative agriculture, Karen had time to spare and wandered into a workshop featuring Sally Fallon (the President of the WAPF).\u00a0 Sally\u2019s words rang true in a way that no other approach to food had.\u00a0 Karen took home the principles of Sally Fallon\u2019s book,\u00a0<em>Nourishing Traditions<\/em>, and founded this local chapter\u2014Nourishing Ways of West Michigan (NWWM) on her farm in Grand Rapids, Michigan in the early 2000&#8217;s.\u00a0 Their daughter is now an adult and although she sustained brain damage and hearing loss from the medical intervention in the treatment of her cancer, she is currently abundantly healthy and a joy to be with.\u00a0 Karen and her husband are grateful.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Moving forward:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Although we no longer meet at the farm, we strongly believe in buying from local farms, eating nutrient dense foods and teaching others how to achieve radiant health.<\/p>\n<p>We welcome all to our free monthly meetings to learn the connection between the food our bodies need and optimal health.<\/p>\n<p>Sincerely,<\/p>\n<p>The Nourishing Ways of West Michigan Board, your local chapter of the Weston A.
