WELCOME!
Thank you for your interest in the Washington DC Chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF). If you are interested in learning about the WAPF, food preparation, healthy eating, and buying local, you’ve come to the right place.
What is the Weston A. Price Foundation?
The Weston A. Price Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt charity founded in 1999 to disseminate the research of nutrition pioneer Dr. Weston A. Price. Price’s studies of isolated non-industrialized people established the parameters of human health and determined the optimum characteristics of human diets. His work culminated in the publication of probably the single most important book on nutrition written to date, Nutrition and Physical Degeneration.
The Foundation is dedicated to restoring nutrient-dense foods to the American diet through education, research and activism. WAPF supports a number of movements that contribute to this objective including accurate nutrition instruction, organic and biodynamic farming, pasture raising of livestock, community supported farms, honest and informative labeling, prepared parenting and nurturing therapies. Specific goals include establishment of universal access to clean, certified raw milk through A Campaign for Real Milk and a ban on the use of soy formula for infants through its Soy Alert! project.
We are also an international membership organization and I am extending a personal invitation to you to join the Weston A. Price Foundation today! Membership benefits include a subscription to the Foundation’s quarterly journal “Wise Traditions in Food, Farming and the Healing Arts”; a valuable publication dedicated dedicated to exploring the scientific validation dietary, agricultural and medical traditions throughout the world. You can learn more about WAPF by visiting their website. Membership, however, is not necessary to participate with your local chapter and I look forward to meeting you in the near future.
What is the purpose of the Washington DC WAPF Local Chapter?
The Washington DC WAPF Chapter is led by co-chapter leaders Jessica Davis, Hilda Labrada Gore, and Emma Wise and serves as a venue for resource and information exchange for those interested in improving their health based on the findings from the extensive research carried out by Weston A. Price. This group also wishes to serve as a platform for building community and increasing awareness about the principles of Dr. Price’s research. In addition we strongly encourage eating local foods in season and do everything we can to support this endeavor by providing local food resources for farm fresh, nutrient-dense foods.
This Chapter and site is relatively new and still under development. Please check back regularly to utilize the features that we are developing. Our goal is to help you find out about and RSVP to our regular events. Find relevant articles and calls to action in the “‘News Blog” section. This site will also provide information on local resources, real food recipes, and book recommendations. For interacting personally with like-minded members, we are developing a Facebook page which will be posted upon completion.
Again, thank you for your interest in the Washington DC Chapter of WAPF!
