Third generation olive grower, Charles Crohare, on Thursday August 25, 2011, in Livermore, Ca., expects that come November the olive oil mill will be up and running producing oil after the harvest, at the Olivina Ranch. This year’s olive oil crop is expected to be a record low.

Join your Weston A. Price friends and the Crohare Family at The Olivina for an afternoon of sampling and learning about California Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Olivina makes true, fine California extra virgin olive oil from olives grown, harvested, milled, and bottled on the historic estate. The only spray used on the trees is an organic spray.

The Crohare Family continues the Olivina tradition with six cultivars of olive trees: Mission, Arbequina, Lucca, Frantoio, Picholine and Century Mission. The Century Mission trees were planted in 1881 when the Olivina Estate was established. Join us for:

12:30 Olive oil tasting of different olive oil varieties and farm history.

1:15 Potluck lunch, with olive oils and sourdough bread included.

2:15 Guided tour by Charles Crohare to learn the milling, bottling and harvesting processes.

3:15 A walk into the orchard.

Bring a nutrient dense dish to share, eating implements, and a water bottle. We will be outside, so prepare for the weather by wearing layers.
