Meet the goats of WestCreek Farm and experience their milk and cheese and the other residents on a beautiful hillside along the creek.
Where: TBA
When: Saturday, June 10 · 12 – 3pm PDT
Our June gathering will be at WestCreek Farm in the beautiful Alhambra Valley, an unincorporated area of Martinez. Our hosts Bevyn and Matt bought their 74 acres in 2014 and have been thoughtfully establishing and growing a farm of dairy goats. The mild climate, the creek and the lush variety of native plants make it an ideal location to breed, raise, milk and sell goats in all seasons.
Bevyn and Matt breed quality registered Nigerian Dwarf goats that they enjoy milking for excellent flavor and for mild, extra-creamy milk. They also enjoy breeding for strong immune systems and a wide palate of colors and patterns. Recently, they introduced a few cattle to the farm. The cattle are Dexters, a small, dual purpose breed.
You can learn more about the farm at https://westcreekfarm.blogspot.com/p/blog-page_18.html
We will meet at Noon on Saturday June 10th for a tour of the farm and a Q & A, all about raising goats. We will sample the milk and their homemade goat cheese. Our traditional potluck lunch will follow around 1:15 PM.
Note about the farm: There is a sink for hand washing, but not for drinking. The farm does not have restroom facilities, but for those of you who are comfortable using the bushes, you will find a pleasant assortment with plenty of privacy. For those of you for whom that is uncomfortable, please be sure to go before go.
You will receive the address and further details when you sign up. Bring a nutrient dense dish to share, eating implements, and a water bottle. We will be outside, so prepare for the weather by wearing layers. Carpooling would help with limited paring, more information later. No dogs at this ventue except the resident working dogs.
