Men’s Health Matters- A Talk With Dr Michael Gaeta, DAOM, MS, CDN
Andropause, or “male menopause,” is the excessive or rapid reduction of the androgen (eg DHEA, testosterone) in middle-aged men, leading to a reduction in overall vigor and sexual drive, usually occurring between ages 45 and 55.
According to Louis Guilette, PhD, average sperm counts in Western nations have been falling 1% per year since 1942 in healthy males, from 100 million to less than 40 million today. Below 40 million is considered “sub-fertility”.
Fertility specialists estimate that now 50% of infertility issues that impact both conception and the overall health of a pregnancy are directly associated with the male partner. Impaired reproductive health is influenced by a variety of factors, including nutritional deficiencies, toxicity, stress, and exhaustion.
The Washington Post, 13 Jan 2014 wrote, “Since 2000, the number of men beginning testosterone therapy has almost quadrupled in the United States… The majority of these patients had not had their testosterone levels measured recently or only had them tested once prior to beginning treatment.”
In this presentation, Dr Gaeta will provide practical strategies for enhancing male reproductive health through dietary adjustments, natural remedies, and lifestyle enhancements aimed at optimizing fertility and sperm quality to support the conception of a healthy child.
This practical seminar will look at common causes of low male androgens, and specific diet, lifestyle, food-based supplementation and botanical therapy to help men have optimal androgen levels throughout life.
Additionally, he will discuss the pivotal roles men play as collaborative partners and supportive fathers, highlighting their contributions to the mental, emotional, and physiological well-being of the entire family.
Dr. Michael Gaeta is a practicing dietician-nutritionist, herbalist and acupuncturist, with 34 years clinical experience in Chinese and natural functional medicine. He has trained 20,000 health professionals over his 30 years of teaching and hosts a weekly podcast on natural health and health freedom. More at michaelgaeta.com.
