Raw Milk Herd-Shares

Abundant Life Farm:

  • Sutton, AK
  • Rachel & Brady Summerlin
  • Contact: 940-704-5358 or admin@abundantlifefarm.us
  • Instagram: @abundantlifefarm

“Our Jersey girls are milked by machine using an in-line filter. The milk is then immediately jarred into half-gallon jars and rapidly chilled in an ice bath so that our shareholders receive the freshest milk that we can produce. We source as much of our needed supplies and feed from local producers and suppliers so that we too help to support local small businesses and other farmers. We want to build a strong and helpful community through our herd-share program, and encourage our shareholders to visit the farm and be involved in producing their own food. We look forward to growing our product offerings to share with our community, starting with our dairy shareholders.”

Rachel is also a massage therapist and has a studio on the farm.

Milk Shares are picked up at the farm.

“We offer a limited number of A2A2 Jersey milk herd-shares. We are so happy to say that Alaska has recently updated their stone-age legislation regarding “raw milk” and have legalized the sale of it with certain restrictions. We are in the process of expanding and building a commercial kitchen/creamery so that we will be able to sell our fresh milk to anyone, anywhere, in the state of Alaska. Until that time, we are continuing in the local tradition of simply offering a limited number of herd-shares at this time”

Milk shares are picked up in Sutton on Tuesdays and at a pickup spot in Palmer on Saturdays.

Seasonal sheep milk shares

The Tiny Home(stead):

  • Chugiak, Alaska 99567
  • Contact: 907-531-7295 or tinyhomestead.ak@gmail.com

This small family farm focuses on providing raw goat milk through a year-round herdshare program. Pickups at the farm in Chugiak, with a second pickup site in Anchorage (although availability is limited). They also offer other dairy products made from their raw milk, including kefir, cheese, and cream. They have a separate share program for chicken and duck eggs. They can also offer other goat-related services, including baby goat parties, farm tours, and opportunities to get hands-on experience working with goats by volunteering at the farm.

Their goats are raised on a no-corn, no-soy diet, in as natural a manner as they can manage. The farmers welcome visitors so that you can see how the animals are raised and how they are milked.

Contact them by email or phone for information about pricing and availability. They give priority to babies and children with dietary needs. The farm is also open to negotiating barter arrangements so that finances are not a barrier to access.
