Come visit Bodega Pastures, a beautiful 1000-acre sheep ranch located in west Sonoma County just outside of Bodega!
The land is home to a historic community, a flock of sheep, guard donkeys, and many wild creatures.
“Our sheep graze a vast expanse of pasture and coastal rangeland. We practice rotational grazing as a part of our initiative in regenerative land stewardship, moving the flock regularly in consideration of both the needs of the animals and the land they impact. They are supplemented with hay grown on our ridge spines and bottom fields.
We provide meat and wool products of the utmost integrity to our local community and are proud to steward this land in the process. As shepherds, we keep perspective on our role within the larger scheme of roles to play in caring for this unique place we call home. The dance of hooves and hands that shapes this landscape is dynamic, dependent on the feedback of interspecies relationships — often heeding to the pulse of the wild that curls around the fringes of our pastoral domesticity. Holistic, sustainable ranching is a priority.
Our work as graziers is underscored by a belief in the fundamental importance of land stewardship. We are an interspecies team of hooves and hands, committed to maintaining appropriate disturbance on the landscape, mediating functional ecological loops, building bioregionally resilient culture, and cultivating “practical joy”.”
There will be opportunities to buy fleeces and wool products.
