The Restaurant Rating Project is being launched! The Weston A. Price Foundation is planning a new website that helps people find restaurants that serve real food. Restaurants will be judged by certain criteria, for example:
- Offers some pastured meats and wild-caught seafood
- Serves mostly fresh food, prepared from scratch. Does not rely on prepared foods from commercial food services
- Makes own bone broths/stocks (not from a base)
- Offers some dishes made with organ meats
- Makes their own salad dressings using olive or cold-pressed sesame oil
- Cooks/sautés in natural fats, such as butter, lard, tallow, duck fat, coconut oil (not vegetable oils)
- Offers genuine sourdough bread
- Makes own seasoning mixes (does not use flavoring packets or MSG)
- Offers lacto-fermented condiments and beverages (such as kombucha or kvass)
- Offers desserts made in house with natural sweeteners (such as raw honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar)
If you go to a local restaurant, please check in about these criteria and report back so we can start compiling a list of restaurants we can feel good about patronizing!
