Nori Hudson, East Bay WAPF chapter leader and nutritionist, talked to us about “The importance of stomach acid and its relationship to vitamin B12 availability.” Many people who experience acid reflux are misdiagnosed with too much acid and put on acid blockers. Unfortunately, in addition to raising the risks of osteoporosis, allergies, parasitic and other infections, this reduction or loss of adequate stomach acid opens the door to all the chronic health issues of old age, due to the loss of B12 absorption. This talk identified symptoms of both too little stomach acid and too little B12 and which will help avert potential health issues often chalked up to “old age”.
